Vishay VEML6070 ultraviolet sensor. VEML6070 is an advanced CMOS ultraviolet (UV) light sensor with I2C protocol interface and high dynamic detection resolution. VEML6070 integrates signal conditioning ICs, photodiodes, amplifiers and analog / digital circuits in a single chip, and provides high performance in a small package of 2.35mm x 1.8mm x 1mm, making it ideal for handheld devices, wearable devices and other applications As well as health and fitness equipment.
VEML6070 contains an 8-bit command register written via the I2C bus. All operations can be controlled by command registers and have a simple command structure, allowing engineers to easily program operation settings and latch light data from sensors. The sensor provides 16-bit resolution, can convert the solar UV intensity into digital data, and has an active confirmation function that can send an ultraviolet index (UVI) alarm based on a programmable threshold.
The sensor operates from a supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V, with typical current ratings of 250 µA (power supply) and 1 µA (standby). The sensor can detect the entire spectrum of UVA and UVB wavelengths (280-400 nm) with a typical sensitivity of 5 µW / cm2 / step and a maximum detection value of 328 mW / cm2. The device complies with RoHS Directive 2002/95 / EC, is halogen-free, and is compatible with lead-free (lead-free) soldering. VEML6070 is ideal for a variety of mobile, lighting and sensor applications, including smartphones, digital cameras, industrial equipment and displays.
