Toshiba's latest series of smart grid driven optocouplers. The new series of optical couplers include TLP5212 and TLP5222, which are suitable for inverter circuits in industrial control equipment, power regulators in solar energy systems, UPS, residential household battery systems and other extensive applications. Enhancements can help design engineers reduce product design dimensions and reduce system costs
The TLP5212 and TLP5222 devices feature multiple functions, including VCE,(sat) or VDS,(sat) detection, Miller clamp, and fault status feedback capabilities, and are equipped with a universal gate drive coupler to protect the IGBT from overcurrent damage in inverter applications. The Miller clamp function can bypass the Miller current generated when the IGBT is grounded to inhibit gate potential rise and IGBT failure. The TLP5212 needs to reset from shutdown protection to normal operating state through the input signal. The TLP5222 can reset to normal operating state automatically after the specified time. Both devices come in a thin 16-pin SO16L package and operate from -40°C to 110°C
The TLP5212 is an optical coupler with an output current of ±2.5A that controls both IGBT and MOSFET devices to provide reliable overcurrent protection for power equipment for high-speed applications requiring high levels of security isolation and insulation (BVs = 5000Vrms). The SO16L package ensures 8mm creepage range, ideal for space-limited applications
The TLP5222 is a highly integrated multi-function high-current, high-speed output control optical coupler that provides an output current of ±2.5A. It uses SO16L package with long creepage distance and electrical gap and features desaturation detection, isolated fault state feedback, soft gate shut-off, active Miller clamp, undervoltage locking (UVLO) and automatic fault state reset.
