Toshiba Electronics Europe LTD has released a pre-driven IC for motors requiring high RPM, three-phase brushless DC motor control, such as suction motors for server fans, pumps, blowers and cordless and robotic vacuum cleaners.

Built-in closed-loop speed control regulates and maintains motor speed through dynamic power fluctuations and load changes, requiring no external MCU. Precise Settings of speed curves can be programmed into the built-in NVM. The new TC78B011FTG includes a sinusoidal drive method that reduces vibration and noise. Its sensorless design saves space and cost for Hall sensors.

The device is feature-rich and includes selectable closed-loop or open-loop speed control with a supply voltage range of 5.5V to 27V. The speed can be controlled by PWM signal, analog voltage or I2C interface. The I2C interface is also used to control various Settings within the device. Backup functions can further improve the overall efficiency of the system.

The device adopts P-WQFN36-0505-0.50-001 package, covers an area of only 5mm × 5mm and has a height of 0.8mm.

The company's existing TC78B009FTG device is also available, which utilizes trapezoid control to enable designers to select the most appropriate product based on their preferred motor drive method.
