The LM98714 is a fully integrated, high-performance 16-bit, 45 MSPS signal processing solution for digital color copiers, scanners and other image processing applications. High speed signal throughput is achieved through an innovative architecture using correlated double sampling (CDS), usually in conjunction with CCD arrays or sampling and holding (S/H) inputs (for contact image sensors and CMOS image sensors).

System block diagram

The signal path utilizes an 8-bit programmable gain amplifier (PGA), a ± 9-bit bias-corrected DAC and an independently controlled digital black level correction loop for each input. PGA and bias Dacs are programmed independently to allow each of the three inputs to have unique gain and bias values.

The signal is then routed to a 45 MHz high performance analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The fully differential processing channel shows excellent noise resistance with an extremely low noise floor of -74dB. The 16-bit ADC has excellent dynamic performance, making the LM98714 transparent in the image replication chain.
