Texas Instruments' TPS53667 is a high-current, multi-phase, step-down controller. The device provides built-in non-volatile memory (NVM) and PMBus interfaces. It is compatible with the NexFET power stage (CSD9549x). The device offers 8-bit BOOT voltage selection, covering output voltages from 0.5V to 2.5V, with steps as small as 5mV, making it ideal for high-current applications with precise output voltage settings. Advanced control functions, such as the D-CAP + architecture with undershoot reduction (USR) and overshoot reduction (OSR), provide fast transient response, minimal output capacitance, and high efficiency.
The device also offers novel phase interleaving strategies and dynamic phase shedding techniques to improve efficiency at light loads. In addition, the device supports PMBus communication interfaces and systems for telemetry of voltage, current, power, temperature and fault conditions. Certain configurations can be programmed via Pintrap or PMBus and stored in non-volatile memory to minimize the number of external components.
The device is available in a space-saving, thermally enhanced 40-pin QFN package and is specified over the –40C to 125C temperature range.
