The LDC1101 is a rugged 1.8V to 3.3V high resolution inductive-to-digital converter for short-distance, high-speed, non-contact position, rotation, or motion sensing. It was introduced by Texas Instruments. The device can perform reliable and accurate measurements even in the presence of dust or dirt, and is very suitable for use in open or harsh environments. The LDC1101 has a dual-inductance measurement core that can simultaneously perform 16-bit RP and L measurements greater than 150ksps, as well as high-resolution L measurements. The high-resolution L measurements can be sampled at sampling rates greater than 180ksps with up to 24-bit resolution . The LDC1101 in a 3mm × 3mm 10-pin VSON package includes a threshold comparison function that can be dynamically updated while the device is running. Inductive sensing technology accurately measures linear / angular position, displacement, motion, compression, vibration, metal composition, and many other applications in the automotive, consumer, computer, industrial, medical, and communications markets. The company said that inductive sensing technology provides better performance and reliability at a lower cost than other competing solutions.
