Texas Instruments LM74610-Q1 is a controller device that can be used with N-channel MOSFETs in reverse polarity protection circuits. When connected in series with a power supply, it can drive an external MOSFET to simulate an ideal diode rectifier. The company said that the unique advantage of this solution is that it does not refer to the ground, so it has zero IQ. The LM74610-Q1 controller provides a gate driver for an external N-channel MOSFET and has a fast-response internal comparator to discharge the MOSFET gate when the polarity is reversed. If an opposite polarity is detected, this fast pull-down feature limits the amount and duration of reverse current. The device design also meets CISPR25 Category 5 EMI specifications and automotive ISO7637 transient requirements with appropriate TVS diodes.
