The AD8018 is suitable for single power (5 V) xDSL modems where high output current and low distortion are necessary to achieve maximum transmission range. Dual high speed amplifiers are capable of driving low-distortion signals to within 0.5V of the power rail. Each amplifier can drive 400 mA current to 10 Ω(differential) while maintaining -82 dBc out-of-band SFDR.
Pin configuration
The AD8018 has flexible standby and shutdown modes. Two digital logical bits (PWDN1 and PWDN0) can be used to place the AD8018 in one of three modes: full power, standby (output low impedance), and shutdown (output high impedance). Manufactured using ADI's high-speed XFCB(Ultra-Fast Complementary Bipolar) process, the high bandwidth and fast conversion rate minimizes distortion while dissipating minimal power, and the static current is a low 9 mA/ amplifier.
Simplified diagram
The AD8018 drive features a compact 8-pin thermal Shoreline SOIC and 14-pin TSSOP package. Low distortion, rail-to-rail output voltage and large current drivers in small packages make the AD8018 ideal for use in low-cost USB, PCMCIA, and PCI client devices for ADSL, SDSL, VDSL, and proprietary xDSL systems. Both models can operate in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C.
