The VL53L0X is a time-of-flight (ToF) laser ranging module in the smallest package available on the market today that, unlike conventional technology, provides accurate range measurements regardless of the target's reflectivity. It can measure absolute distances up to 2 meters, setting a new benchmark for the level of ranging performance and opening the door to a variety of new applications.

The VL53L0X integrates the leading SPAD array (single photon avalanche diode) and is embedded with ST's second generation FlightSense proprietary technology. VL53L0X's 940 nm VCSEL emitter (vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser), completely invisible to the human eye, coupled with internal physical infrared filters, it enables longer ranging distances, higher resistance to ambient light, and better robustness to cover glass optical crosstalk.
