The EL7554 is a fully functional synchronous 4A step-down regulator with efficiency up to 96%, operating in temperatures from -40°C to +85°C in a 28 Ld HTSSOP package. The device operates from 3V to 6V VIN input power. With built-in CMOS power FeTs, the device can operate at up to 100% duty cycle, allowing an output voltage range from 0.8V to near VIN. Up to 1MHz of adjustable switching frequency can be used with small components so that the entire converter occupies less than 0.58 square inches of the PCB side of the component.

The EL7554 works in constant frequency PWM mode, making external synchronization possible. The EL7554 features soft start and full start controls that eliminate surge current and enable users to easily control the boot of multiple converters to any configuration. The EL7554 also offers a voltage margin capability of ±5%, allowing the power supply derived from the EL7554 to be raised and lowered to quickly and easily verify the performance and reliability of the system card during manufacturing testing.

The junction temperature indicator can easily monitor the silicon chip temperature and save the designer's tedious heat characterization time. An easy-to-use simulation tool is available for download and can be used to modify design parameters such as switching frequency, voltage ripple, ambient temperature, as well as view schematic waveforms, efficiency diagrams, and complete BOM with Gerber layout.
