Renesas Electronics RAA271082 Automotive PMIC is an adaptive multi-rail power supply IC consisting of one primary side high voltage synchronous step-down regulator, two secondary side low voltage synchronous step-down regulators and one LDO regulator. The RAA271082 features four overvoltage and undervoltage monitors, I2C communications, a universal I/O pin, and a dedicated reset output/fault indicator.

The Renesas RAA271082 Automotive PMIC demonstrates the ASIL-D ISO-26262 development process, designed to meet the ASIL-B device specifications. The RAA271082 includes a second bandgap reference voltage source for the OV/UV monitor, built-in self-check at power-on, independent OV/UV monitoring, and continuous CRC error checking on internal registers and I2C communications.

The device provides a high density power supply solution with few external components and minimal board space. The PMIC has various features and is configured using internal disposable programmable (OTP) memory. Almost all device options (such as each output voltage selection, power supply sequencing, and OV/UV threshold) are configured internally and can be selected without external components. The regulator also provides internal compensation. The step-down regulator performs synchronously with high efficiency and can operate in harsh environments requiring high ambient temperatures.

The RAA271082 adopts 4mm × 4mm 24 lead step step cutting QFN (SCQFN) package with exposed pad to improve heat dissipation performance. The device complies with AEC-Q100 standard Level 1, with ambient temperatures ranging from -40°C to 125°C and electrical junction temperature ratings ranging from -40°C to 150°C.
