Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited (AOS) has released AOZ32034AQV, a new member of the coil driver family for wireless charging transmitter circuits up to 50W. Packaged in a heat-enhanced QFN 4 x 4 package, the device was created for wireless charging applications in charging stations, vacuum cleaners, drones, wireless power tools, and other consumer electronics devices.

A key feature of the series is the use of pressure swing control pins to change the MOSFET gate drive. This enables the system designer to optimize the design by making trade-offs between EMI and efficiency. The device can be used for a wide range of input voltages from 4V to 28V.

The device provides a power rating of up to 50W, higher than the previous device in the family, AOZ32033AQI, which is ideal for 30W applications. The wireless charging circuit adopts full bridge topology and resonant channel to obtain the best power conversion efficiency. The half-bridge power stage simplifies the implementation of this topology in the discrete method.

Armin Hsu, AOS Power IC Marketing Manager said:"Wireless charging offers convenience in many applications. Implementation, especially in EMI-sensitive applications, can be complex. AOS's new half-bridge power stage for coil drives reduces these complexities while reducing the footprint of the solution, "
