Nordic Semiconductor announces that the first member of its latest nRF52 series system-on-chip (SoC), the nRF52832 (the most advanced Bluetooth smart single chip on the market today), is now in volume production and includes a range of new products. , Previously unannounced feature.
The production version of nRF52832 has passed the latest Bluetooth v4.2 version of the Bluetooth specification, and the Bluetooth software stack includes a new "LE Secure Connection" feature that supports encrypted wireless communications. The security of the device firmware upgrade (DFU) has been further enhanced. In addition, there is a new flexible RAM scheme that allows developers to optimize how much memory the software stack uses for any given configuration, and concurrent multi-master-slave network support. The latter feature allows devices such as smart watches to act as hubs for other wireless sensors and wireless peripherals for smartphones.
As previously announced, no competitive solution can provide the combination of nRF52832's features and performance, combining breakthrough performance with energy efficiency, providing new design flexibility, and including unique on-chip NFC tags for consumer convenience peer to peer.
nRF52832 has the first 64MHz ARM Cortex-M4F processor in its class, best-in-class ultra-high performance, low-power 2.4GHz multi-protocol radio, and fully automatic power optimization. Compared with competing solutions, nRF52832 achieves a 60% increase in the general processing power of EEMBC 215 CoreMark, thanks to its ARM Cortex-M4F up to 10 times the floating point number and 2 times the DSP performance. Moreover, the power consumption of the nRF52832 is 58 CoreMark / mA, which is twice that of similar solutions, and its energy efficiency is up to 2 times.
The nRF52832 also includes complete on-chip analog and digital peripherals that seamlessly connect with external components such as sensors, displays, touch controllers, LEDs, keypads, motors, digital microphones, and audio codecs. The company claims that this makes it an ideal single-chip solution for wearables, human-machine interface devices (such as remote controls, toys, smart home devices and appliances) and wireless charging.
Nordic Product Marketing Manager Pär Håkansson said: "The nRF52832 was announced last June to redefine the Bluetooth Smart single-chip category and no competitor has launched any products that match it.
The demand for nRF52832 also exceeds the record of all previous new product releases from Nordic Semiconductor. So far, we have successfully completed the largest and most engaged global technology tour, which has helped us. [Nordic companies have hired senior internal engineers during this period to meet new and old customers and introduce the Nordic company ULP wireless technology. The latest development and training customers to experience first-hand how to use it]. There are more than 4,000 engineers and developers worldwide. As a result, the production of nRF52832 will increase from sampling to millions in the next quarter to ensure that sufficient funds are allocated to all customers, and all customers are now encouraged to place orders through their local Nordic distributors. "
Kjetil Holstad, Nordic Semiconductor's Bluetooth Smart Product Manager, added: "The current single-chip Bluetooth Smart solution is struggling to keep up with the speed of Bluetooth Smart innovation. Bluetooth Smart is the fastest growing wireless market in history, especially in applications such as wearables Neutralize the Internet of Things. The main reason is that until now, higher performance can only be obtained at the expense of power efficiency. The nRF52 series is the first time that uniquely combines breakthrough performance and energy efficiency on a Bluetooth Smart single chip, and is the Bluetooth Smart market The single chip that we crave. We hope that it will release and inspire developers to be more creative when developing Bluetooth Smart products and applications, and then redefine the role of Bluetooth Smart wireless technology. "
The company said package options include 48-pin 6mm x 6mm QFN and 3mm x 3.2mm CSP, which will be available later in 2016.
