Panasonic Industries offers the first in a comprehensive lineup of GM1 motion controllers: it combines motion functions with those of a PLC, such as positioning, network modules, I/O modules, and high-frequency counters in one compact controller. Since these modules are combined into the GM1 motion controller, this space-saving "all-in-one" solution reduces the space occupied in the cabinet. It provides a response time as low as 0.5ms.
The motion controller contains two independent Ethernet ports, ethernet/IP and Modbus-TCP, an SD memory slot for a 32GB card, a dual-channel high-speed counter (4Mhz/8Mhz), and a quad-channel PWM output (100kHz ). With a command cycle of only 0.5 milliseconds, the device's fast responsiveness is state-of-the-art and makes the motion controller an excellent solution for demanding applications.
In contrast to plc, the device is designed for motion applications such as labeling, current control, rotary knife, flying shear, palletizer, crank, cam motion, or print mark control. In addition, as a core function, the device comes with AFB, which can quickly and easily set up predefined functions, reducing programming time and subsequent costs. The GM Programmer programming tool is based on the Codesys IEC 61131-3 automation software and allows programming using the PLCOpen standard functions and the G-Code editor.
The device also offers an integrated axis configuration tool for fast and precise programming of up to 32 axes via the universal PANATERM Lite. Equipped with OPC UA client and server functions for integration in an Industry 4.0 environment.
The unit combines motion and drive control in one space-saving unit. It is specially developed for motion control solutions where high precision, such as interpolation control and sensitive response requirements, is essential. These features enable high-speed and high-precision applications such as lamination, printing, forming, or packaging machines.
The device is fully compatible with comprehensive automation combinations such as controllers, motors, or MINAS A6 and MINAS A6 multi-family.
