Texas Instruments tmag5170 linear 3D Hall effect sensor provided by mouser is a high-precision Hall effect sensor. This high-level integration provides flexibility and accuracy for a variety of position sensing systems. It is widely used in industrial and personal electronic equipment. It provides three independent Hall sensors for X, y and Z axes. Precision signal chain and integrated 12 bit ADC realize high-precision and low drift magnetic field measurement, and support sampling up to 20ksps. On chip temperature sensor data provides system level drift compensation.

The integrated angle calculation engine (CORDIC) provides complete 360 degree angular position information for on-axis and off-axis angle measurement topology. The angle calculation is realized by using two magnetic axes selected by the user. The device provides magnetic gain and bias correction to reduce the influence of system mechanical error source. The device can be configured through SPI, allowing any combination of magnetic axis and temperature measurement. Multiple sensor conversion schemes and SPI frame reading help to optimize throughput and accuracy. The dedicated alert pin can be used as a system interrupt through low-power wake-up and sleep mode. It can also be used by the microcontroller to trigger a new sensor conversion.

The device provides a variety of diagnostic functions to detect and report system - and device-level failures. The device is available in two different types and can support wide magnetic fields ranging from ±25 mT to ±300 mT. The device operates stably in the ambient temperature range of -40 ° C to +150 ° C. SPI communication provides user-supported cyclic redundancy checks to improve data integrity.

Typical applications include robot arm sensor, mobile robot motor control, proximity sensor, linear motor position sensor, servo drive position sensor, driver, robot lawn mower, vacuum robot, washing machine and dryer, and door and window sensor.
