Honeywell's Nanopower series of magnetoresistive (MR) sensor ICs are designed for ultra-sensitive devices and are suitable for applications with large air gaps, small magnetic fields, and low power requirements. The sensor IC responds to the North or South Pole applied in a direction parallel to the sensor. They do not need to identify the polarity of the magnet, which simplifies installation and potentially reduces system costs. The average current consumption of these devices is very low, and push-pull outputs do not require pull-up resistors. The sensor IC can operate from a supply voltage as low as 1.65 V, which improves energy efficiency. The Nanopower series has two magnetic sensitivities to meet various application needs.
