Hirose has developed a miniature board-to-board connector that combines a rugged design with high-speed transmission speeds in excess of 10Gpbs to support certain industrial applications. The pitch of the ER8 series contacts is only 0.8mm, which is optimized for signal integrity performance, which provides reliable high-speed performance. This series is the second licensed source of the Samtec Edge Rate series and is well suited for servo amplifiers, servo motors, AC drives, electrical measuring instruments and other industrial applications.
Compared to typical micro-pitch connectors, this series offers a wide range of self-alignment, reducing mating forces while managing higher pullout forces. The rugged micro-pitch connector provides extra ruggedness when "zipping" when mating / unmating. In addition, the connector's contact wipe and insertion depth have been increased, making it ideal for industrial equipment that requires high mating cycles and shock and vibration resistance.
