EPC has introduced a 100V, 35A integrated circuit for 48VDC-DC conversion for high-density computing applications, as well as 48V brushless DC motor drivers for electric vehicles, robots and drones. With a maximum withstand voltage of 100V, the EPC23102 eGaN IC can deliver up to 35A of load current while being able to provide switching speeds in excess of 1MHz.
The IC utilizes its proprietary GaN IC technology, and its key features include integrated input logic interface, level shifting, bootstrap charging and gate drive buffer circuits, controlling the 6.6mOhm RDS (in) high-side and low-side fet configurations as Half-bridge power stage. It is also available in a thermally enhanced QFN package with a footprint of only 3.5mm x 5mm, providing an extremely small solution size for the highest power density applications. Operating in a 48V to 12V buck converter, the device delivers greater than 96% peak efficiency at a 1MHz switching frequency and a continuous load current of approximately 8A to 17A at a rated current of 35A.
“The ePower family of products makes it easy for designers to take advantage of the dramatic performance improvements that GaN technology brings,” said Alex Lidow, EPC CEO and co-founder. “Integrated devices are easier to design, easier to lay out, easier to assemble, and save on PCB space. space, and improve efficiency. Designers can use these devices to create lighter and more accurate brushless DC motor drivers, higher efficiency 48v input DC-DC converters, higher fidelity Class D audio systems, and other industrial and consumer applications.”
The EPC90147 development board is a half bridge with a maximum voltage of 100V and a maximum output current of 35A using the EPC23102 ePower Stage IC. The purpose of the development board is to simplify the evaluation process. This 2" x 2" (50.8mm x 50.8mm) board is for optimum switch performance and includes all critical components for easy evaluation
