Texas Instruments' FPC202 dual-port controller can be used as a slow signal aggregator for common port types (such as SFP, QSFP, Mini-SAS HD). The FPC202 aggregates all slow control signals and I2C signals to provide an easy-to-use management interface for the host (I2C or SPI). A variety of devices are available for high-port applications and have a common control interface with the host. The device is designed to place the circuit board under the connector for easy wiring. The naming cost allows the use of smaller I / O counting controllers (FPGA, CPLD, MCU) and reduces congestion at the routing layer. The device obtains user-specific register data from each module, making it easy to access the host through almost I2C (up to 1MHz) or SPI (up to 10MHz) interfaces. In addition, if a user-configurable critical event occurs on a port controlled by the controller, the controller may initiate a host interrupt. This eliminates the need to continuously query the module.
