The NCP4523 series is a multi-stabilized ic with high output voltage accuracy, extremely low supply current, low noise, low ON resistance, and high ripple suppression of CMOS processes. The NCP4523 series contains three voltage regulators. Each regulator in the NCP4523 series consists of a voltage reference unit, an error amplifier, a resistor to set the output voltage, a current limiting circuit, and a chip enable circuit. Chip enablement helps extend battery life.

In addition, the NCP4523 series voltage regulator has good drop voltage, load transient response and line transient response, so the NCP4523 series is very suitable for the power supply of handheld communication devices. The output voltage of each regulator is fine-tuned by laser with high precision. Since the package for these ics is SSOP−8, it is possible to mount the ic at a high density on the board.

The output voltage fluctuations of each regulator, or VOUT1, 2, 3, are detected separately. Then it is put back into the error amplifier through the feedback resistor or R1_1, R2_1, R1_2, R2_2, R1_3, R2_3, and compared with the reference voltage, and the result is compensated to keep the voltage constant. In each regulator, short circuit protection is provided by current limiting circuits and standby mode available chip enabling circuits.
