ADI's EVAL-CN0409-ARDZ Arduino Shield uses a network of ADPD105 photometric front ends and a network of 860nm infrared emitters and silicon PIN photodiodes to produce a water turbidity measurement system. The system can measure low to high turbidity levels from 0FTU to 1000FTU. The IR LED and photodiode networks are managed in such a way that they can carry the two most recognized turbidity measurement standards-ISO7027 (ratio and non-ratio) and the GLI method. With three-point calibration, the system can obtain a typical accuracy of ± 0.50 FTU or ± 5% of reading-whichever is greater. This accuracy combined with 0.05FTU noise level makes the measurement results obtained with this system very reliable. The device's ambient light suppression capability makes this circuit ideal for applications that require rigorous, accurate, and non-contact turbidity measurements. Typical applications include chemical analysis and monitoring of natural water, wastewater and drinking water.
