ADI has introduced its fully integrated power conversion platform for next-generation solar, energy storage and electric vehicle infrastructure applications. The platform includes processing, gate drive and sensing components designed to support new fast switching architectures and adapt to growing safety regulations. This platform simplifies system design for power inverter manufacturers by integrating ADI ’s mature iCoupler digital isolation technology with a breakthrough new mixed-signal processor design (ADSP-CM41x), while improving system security and Reliability and help reduce the cost of renewable energy. Power systems must be carefully designed to protect end users from electric shock and physical damage to the system by isolating current measurements from power processing circuits and transient signals. Traditionally, this protection comes at a price, because using multiple redundant isolation components increases cost and system complexity. ADI recently announced the ADSP-CM41x processor family, which uses a revolutionary new design that integrates dual-core safety redundancy into a single chip. ADSP-CM41x is an integral part of the power conversion platform, and it is now the first and only processor of its kind to receive the VDE-AR-N4105 safety certification issued by TUV-SUD. This gives designers confidence in their certification process and gives them faster, The platform also includes the AD740x sigma-delta-based A / D converter, which can replace larger and more expensive sensor modules to reduce system costs and improve isolated current measurements; and the ADuM413x series of isolated gate drivers, which use iCoupler digital isolation technology. To help developers use the platform for evaluation and design, ADI also announced the release of a new evaluation kit, ADZS-CM419F-EZLITE.
