Mercury Electronics Europe has released a new range of ultra-miniature, ultra-low phase noise crystal oscillators. The new surface mount HJ22 oscillator provides a 15pF load LVCMOS output from 20 to 50MHz with a typical RMS phase jitter of only 48fs , up to 300fs. The phase noise characteristics are particularly good compared to standard oscillators with -153dBc/Hz at 10kHz offset and -166dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset (49.152MHz output frequency, 3.3V input model). They are ideal for embedded automotive applications.

The oscillator frequency stability over commercial (-10C to +70C) and industrial (-40C to +85C) can be specified as ±25, ±50 or ±100ppm as standard. The company can also provide non-standard frequency stabilization specifications, such as ±20ppm or ±30ppm. It is housed in an ultra-miniature surface mount package measuring just 2.5mm x 2mm x 0.9mm, available with 1.8 v, 2.5 or 3.3V power requirements, and provides a typical current consumption of only 3mA, with a maximum of 5mA.

Product Specifications: The maximum aging in the first year is ±3ppm/year, the typical startup time is 0.8ms, the maximum startup time is 5ms, the typical rise and fall time is 5ns, the maximum is 10ns, and the duty cycle (symmetric) is 50% ±5%. Output enable/disable is provided as standard.
