A new development kit for users to develop unallocated FPGA resources

Fecha de Publicación: 2022-02-27, Abracon LLC

A tool that allows users to develop unallocated Xilinx FPGA resources on Abaco boards. HDK has implemented specific features in the new Xilinx Vivado ML Editions suite of tools that allow users to implement custom IP while maintaining the overall integrity of Abaco IP. Is now supplied by Abaco Systems hardware Development Kit (HDK)

Building on Xilinx Dynamic Function Exchange (DFX) functionality, the company developed a static design consisting of its proprietary IP, while leaving room in the FPGA for the user's custom design for dynamic programmable areas. Throughout the development process, the abstract shell compiles only the dynamic region, speeding up the compilation time and protecting its IP. At run time, DFX is used to exchange designs within dynamic regions. The HDK includes a static partition bitstream, a Sample Vivado ML programmable partition design, and scripts to implement the interface to the abstraction layer.

Ramine Roane, Vice president of Marketing, Software and AI solutions at Xilinx   said :"Xilinx has worked closely with Abaco to develop their hardware development suite,"  "Abaco benefited greatly from Dynamic Function eXchange, while Abstract Shells flowed with Vivado ML. DFX allows them to quickly adapt to customer requirements and load new hardware features on demand. Abstract Shells also protect Abaco IP while speeding up compilation times during hardware development."

"As a leader in embedded high performance, high durability computing subsystems, Abaco's release of the hardware development kit is a continuation of our vision to deploy more tools to simplify customer integration into their entire systems," said Pete Thompson, vice president of Product Management for Abaco Systems. Allowing our developer customers to use these resources without breaking the IP in a static partition provides the opportunity to reuse previously licensed IP in a static partition without the cost or administration of reauthorization, further saving time and reducing the cost of complex projects."
