The LM2673 series voltage regulator is a monolithic integrated circuit that provides all active functions for step-down (step-down) switching regulators, capable of driving up to 3-A loads with excellent line and load regulation characteristics. High efficiency (> 90%) is obtained by using DMOS power switches with low on resistance. The series consists of 3.3V, 5v and 12v fixed output voltages and adjustable output versions.


The SIMPLE SWITCHER concept provides a complete design using a minimum number of external components. High fixed frequency oscillators (260 kHz) allow the use of physically smaller components. A range of standard inductors for use with the LM2673 is available from multiple manufacturers, greatly simplifying the design process. Other features include the ability to reduce the input surge current when the power is powered on by adding a soft-start timing capacitor to gradually turn on the voltage regulator.


The LM2673 series also has built-in thermal shutdown and resistance programmable current-limiting power MOSFET switches to protect equipment and load circuits in fault conditions. The output voltage is guaranteed to a tolerance of ±2%. The clock frequency is controlled within a tolerance of ±11%.
