Toshiba Electronics Europe Ltd. has added five new MOSFET gate driver chips to the TCK42xG family, which control the separation of the applied gate voltage from the input voltage and provide an overvoltage lockout function to protect the circuit. Ideal for a wide range of battery powered, consumer and industrial equipment applications.

These new products join the TCK421G released earlier this year. This series has a choice of gate-source voltage of 10V or 5.6V, allowing use with a variety of mosfets. Select the detection voltage for input overvoltage lockout so that it can operate from a 5V to 24V power line. Available drivers are the TCK420G for 24V power lines, the TCK422G and TCK423G for 12V, the TCK424G for 9V, and the TCK425G for 5V power lines.

When used to control two n-channel MOSFETs connected back-to-back, they are suitable for configuring load switch or power multiplexer circuits with reverse current blocking. In addition, each new driver in the family offers a built-in charge pump that provides a regulated gate-to-source voltage on an external MOSFET, while the input can range from 2.7V to 28V. This allows large currents to be switched.

The door driver comes in a 1.2mm x 0.8mm WCSP6G package, one of the smallest in the industry, with a small footprint and high density installation in a space-constrained portable product. They also provide A low input OFF current with an IQ (OFF) of 0.5μA (maximum VIN=5V) that helps prolong battery life.

In order to further assist the customer's project, the company developed "Power multiplexer Circuit Reference Design", which provides a design example for power multiplexer using a series of functions.
