The MP2624A is a 4.5A high-integration switching mode battery charging IC for single lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries. The MP2624A supports NVDC architecture and has power path management function, which is suitable for various portable applications. The low-impedance power supply path optimizes efficiency, reduces battery charge time, and extends battery life. The I2C serial interface with charging and system setting functions can control the device flexibly.MP2624A is packaged with QFN-22 (3mmx4mm).

The MP2624A supports a wide input source, including a standard USB main port and a high-power wall adapter. The MP2624A detects the input source type according to the battery charging specification 1.2 (BC1.2), and then reports it to the main port to set the appropriate input current limit. In addition, the MP2624A provides 5.0V power supply with a current up to 2.0A, which can support USB On The Go operation.

The power path management function can adjust the system voltage to a value slightly higher than the set maximum voltage, which is set between the battery voltage and the I2C programmable minimum voltage. Based on this feature, the system can still work even if the battery is depleted or removed. When the input source current or voltage limit is reached, power path management automatically reduces the charging current to meet the priority of system power requirements. If the system current continues to increase, even when the charging current drops to zero, the supplementary mode also allows the battery and input power to supply power to the system at the same time.
